State Rep. Timmy Beson today testified on a funding request for vital infrastructure improvements for Kawkawlin Township in Bay County and the Saginaw Bay Watershed.
Beson has requested an investment of just over $1.9 million for a planned storm sewer system spanning nearly 3,700 feet, as well as a pump station project to eliminate flooding that impacts a residential area near South Linwood Beach Road in the township. The system would effectively manage and outlet stormwater into the Tobico Marsh, located on the west side of the project area.
“This is an area that has experienced flooding and erosion to the road when there is heavy rainfall or snow melt, and these upgrades will protect people’s homes, enhance the community and provide an environmentally responsible outlet for water to filter through,” Beson said when testifying before the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor and Economic Opportunity. “Some people who live in this area aren’t even able to get mail or have their kids picked up for school because of the flooding, and this has been an issue for over two decades. I am hopeful we can see this funding through to the governor’s desk in the weeks ahead and I will continue to put Bay County workers and families first in Lansing.”
Beson represents Kawkawlin Township as part of the 96th House District.
